"Luchs" dated '14th Avril 02' addressed to Bubbling Well Road, Shanghai' bearing Chinese Imperial Post SG 122, 1c ochre tied by 'Pa Kua' chop with adjacent bold Shanghai Local Post date stamp 'Ap 16' on face and hand-stamped 'From Steamers Letter Box' on face with Postman's chop 'C/ 25.'
The German Gunboat 'S.M.S. "Luchs" was part of the Imperial Navy based at the German Navy Base, Tsingtao and saw service during the Boxer Campaign.
