Envelope headed 'Correspondence Militaire' and (signed by the Commander on reverse) addressed to France and forwarded to New Caledonia bearing French General Colonies Yvert 23, 25c blue tied by dotted lozenge in blue with adjacent 'Inde/ Pondichery' double ring '4th Sept 74' with octagonal 'Corr D' Arm./ Pondichery' in blue, boxed 'PD' in red, routed via Suez on P & O "S. S. Teheran" with Marseille transit '29 Sept' and forwarded to Noumea on French paquebot "Curieux" with m/s 'Received 18 Sept 75 par (ship) "Le Curieux" on face. and endorsed 'P.P. Noumea' in violet ink.
Wonderful item of military mail paying the Naval Concession rate with "Ceres" stamp from French India to the small Pacific island of New Caledonia. Taking nearly a year in transit.
