Netherlands East Indies. (Netherlands Indies Civil Administration). 1946. Stamp-less Air Mail envelope written from 'A.M.A.C.A.B.' (Allied Military Administration Civil Affairs Branch) Hotel, Singaradja' addressed to Bali Hotel, Denpasar headed 'Luchtpostverbinding Singgaradja- Denpasar 26 - 4 - 46'.

First Air Mail flown between Singaradja and Denpasar after the Japanese Occupation and Dutch War of Independence.

Unique item. Illustrated in P.R. Bulterman's 'Nederlands Indie in Oorlog' on page 213.

The Dutch Indies declared independence from the Netherlands at 10am, 17th August 1945. There followed four years of armed resistance and bloody conflict until the Dutch recognized Independence on 27th Dec 1949.
