Netherlands East Indies. (Dutch Rule Restored). 1945. Illustrated (mosque) 'Briefkaart' endorsed 'Luchtpost' addressed to the Netherlands bearing Netherlands Indies 'Dutch Rule Restored' SG 467, 1c green and SG 474, 17 1/2c carmine tied by Semarang/ Tjandi date stamp in blue '5th Nov 45'.
The Dutch Indies declared independence from the Netherlands at 10am 17th August 1945. There followed four years of armed resistance and bloody conflict until the Dutch recognized Independence on the 27th Dec 1949.
